Story

I am running the Inverness half marathon on Sunday the 11th March 2012 along with Nina Walker, Pamela Henry, Jo McCorgray, Lynn Kirkpatrick, Karen McGinty and Rae Morrison all from our Jog Scotland group. We're running in aid of the charity Action on Pre-eclampsia. This is very important to me. I feel there are not enough answers when it comes to pre-eclampsia.

In January 2010 I was diagnosed with severe pre-eclampsia, I was only 26 weeks pregnant. I was flown from Raigmore Hospital in Inverness to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley as Raigmore were unable to look after a baby born earlier than 8 weeks early and they were assuming I was going to need an emergency caesarean. One day after going into my local hospital the Belford I was now in Paisley and on the 25th January 2010 my son Fynn was born by emergency caesarean. My organs were giving up and the surgeon had no choice but to operate. At 13.5 weeks early my son was not strong enough and only survived for 6 hours. This was my third pregnancy and I did not have pre-eclampsia in the previous two.

After an awful year I joined the local Jog Scotland group in February 2011 as a beginner and have set myself this challenge. Running makes you feel great and if I can make any money for this charity I will be very thankful for your donations.
