Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Sunday 28th March 2010 members of our team are to abseil down the John Radcliffe Hospital to raise funds for The Silver Star Society (Fund No 0347). The Silver Star Team at the John Radcliffe in Oxford give a unique range of care, backed by dedicated midwives and staff of the Maternity Unit and Special and Intensive Care baby nurseries.

Glenn Dearlove, our Small Works Manager and his wife Becky recently celebrated the birth of their baby daughter Isabelle who was born at 33 weeks weighing 2lbs 9ozs. The birth came after Becky had spent 7 weeks under the care of the Silver Star Unit being monitored daily. After Isabelle was born she was taken to the Special Care Unit and due to the way the Silver Star Unit is funded, both Glenn and Becky were able to stay together at the hospital for the following 5 days, meaning Becky could recover and they could both be close to Isabelle. Isabelle went home just 4 weeks later and is doing very well.
