Woolpit CC - Dawn to Dusk Test Match · 27 May 2018

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am in my first year at Cardiff Met University and like most new undergraduates joined a number of societies including the Cricket Club. At the end of my autumn term the Met Cricketers were asked as a group to support the Three Bears Foundation set up by Chris Burn, a former Met cricketer, in memory of his mother, Jane, who sadly died of pancreatic cancer in December 2017. Initially we adorned our bats with the foundation’s logo sticker but when Woolpit CC, Suffolk asked whether I would play in their fund raising event, I thought that this would be a good opportunity to also raise funds for Three Bears.

Three Bears Foundation was set up with the principal aim of raising funds and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK whose aim is to fund research and awareness of this form of cancer.

When I discussed this with my family they reminded me that my mother’s cousin had also contracted and sadly died of this miserable version of cancer. I only met Roz Osmond on a few occasions but she was always the most lovely lady.

I propose to play in the Test Match event which will start at 5am and play throughout the day until 9pm.
