Mountbatten is the Isle of Wight's only hospice and is known for innovation across the UK and beyond. We provide expert medical, nursing and domiciliary end of life care and bereavement support to people in their own homes, including care homes, in our Newport building and in the local hospital.

<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #0000ff;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">5th November 2010</span></span></span><span style="color: #0000ff;"> -</span><span style="color: #0000ff;"> THANK YOU - we have now reached our PLAZA ICES CHARITY CHALLENGE 2010 and today paid &pound;355 cash to the hospice. Our challenge was to raise &pound;1000 for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice during 2010 and we have beat our target and raised &pound;605 on Walk the Wight. &pound;34 for Go Yellow Day and &pound;422 by completing the Great South Run. making a GRAND TOTAL of &pound;1061!</span></p> <p><span style="color: #0000ff;">&nbsp;</span><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Thank you - We hope you will all continue to purchase your ice creams, or hire our ice cream vans from The Plaza Ices&nbsp; so we can support local charities next year. We did it&nbsp; - Gary completed the 10 miles in a quite respectiful time of <span style="color: #0000ff;">1hour 31mins and 55 seconds </span>- not bad seeing it is the first time he has done anything like this in 20 years! So far he has raised &pound;422 in race sponsorship but you can still donate now. Please remember all the money goes straight to Earl Mountbatten Hospice.</p> <p>Thank you to all the fundraising team at EMH - to all the people who have sponsored The Plaza Ices and to all the supporters who attended the race on the day. A special mention must go to Phil Milner from Cowes McTimoney Chiropractors who made an emergency repair to Gary''s back on Saturday!</p> <p>4/9/10 - Update - We have now received a letter from the Earl Mountbatten Hospice saying we have now raised &pound;837 this year - just &pound;163 off our target! Thank you to all who have helped us raise this amount. With just the Great South Run to go on October 24th it would be fantastic if you could sponser us by donating &nbsp;a little online here to help us reach the &pound;1000.</p> <p>Since 2007 we at <strong>The Plaza Ices</strong> have supported many charities. We are particulary proud to support the <strong>Ellen MacArthur Trust</strong> and the <strong>Earl Mountbatten Hospice.</strong></p> <p>Our main fundraiser for the the <strong>Earl Mountbatten Hospice</strong> is to offer ice cream to walkers on the famous <strong>Walk the Wight</strong> and to donate a large percentage of the takings to the hospice.&nbsp;In the past 3 years we have &nbsp;raised over &pound;1500. Last year we raised &pound;545 and the previous year &pound;745 - we have never raised &pound;1000 in one go!</p> <p><strong>So that is our target for 2010 to raise <span style="text-decoration: underline;">&pound;1000</span> for the hospice in 2010. </strong></p> <p><strong>How do we plan to achieve this?&nbsp; - </strong>We will again be supplying two ice cream vans for Walk the Wight. One will be situated at Freshwater Bay and one at the end of the Flat Walk at Shide.</p> <p><strong>How can you help?</strong>&nbsp; By purchasing a &pound;1.50 &nbsp;ice cream at one of our Classic Ice Cream vans at the above locations on Walk the Wight day -&nbsp; Sunday 16th of May 2010- we will donate 75p for every ice cream purchased .</p> <p>(If you can not make it to the vans for an ice cream or can't take part in Walk the Wight but still want to help the hospice please click on the link below.)</p> <p><strong>UPDATE 17th MAY 10 - THANK YOU to everyone who purchased an ice cream from us on WALK the WIGHT - with your help we raised a staggering &pound;605 for the hospice! He is currently training daily and hopes to complete the 10 miles in under two hours.
