Story

My Sister-in-law, Lesley Paterson, was diagnosed with Cancer toward the end of 2009,and underwent several rounds of Chemotherapy at Guys Hospital. Sadly the treatment did not halt the progress of the disease, and it became life limiting. From that time Lesley received Palliative care at home. In August 2010 it was necessary for Lesley to be temporarily admitted to the Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice for pain control. Lesley was finally admitted to the Hospice in mid September, where she died , aged 59,pain free and peacefully, surrounded by her family on the 8th October. Throughout her illness Lesley remained remarkably dignified, positive and strong .

The Palliative treatment, thoughtfulness and personal care Lesley received in the Hospice are a tribute to the dedication and kindness of the Hospice staff who looked after Lesley.

I am delighted and proud to be running in the 2011 London Marathon to raise funds for Greenwich and Bexley Community Hospice; dedicated to Lesleys memory. And as a massive thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and support staff who made Lesley feel secure and cared for, and able to leave this World pain free and in a peaceful and dignified environment – an Oasis of care, dignity and tranquillity.

Thank you for any donation you may wish to make.

Brian
