GBM Runs 10k for Treeplanting in Kenya! · 5 September 2010 ·

The Green Belt Movement (GBM) was founded by Wangari Maathai in 1977. It uses tree planting as an entry point for communities to take action on issues of land rights, environment and livelihoods. GBM works on climate change policy on forests on behalf of rural communities internationally.

Story

The Green Belt Movement International Team are teaming up with The Rainforest Foundation UK and dusting off their running shoes on 5th September to run 10km to raise money for our tree planting projects in Kenya.

Our vision is to create a society of people who consciously work for continued improvement of their environment and a greener, cleaner Kenya. Our mission is to mobilize community consciousness for self-determination, equity, improved livelihoods and security, and environmental conservation.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for GBMI.

Your kind donations will help to empower communities across Kenya and worldwide to protect the environment and to promote good governance and cultures of peace.

So please dig deep and donate now!

Best wishes,

The GBMI 10k Team
