My story
Updated on Nov 16th 2012 at 11:24 AM from the JustGiving API
What a great night out for GBMSS, after dinner speech on the swim, sharing the stage with Vicki Aggar - paralympian and coach and Richard Storry - a very funny and brave young man. Mike Read could only watch and be content with interviewing Kenney Jones - Faces and ex-Who drummer, Ryan Keen was pretty good too!

Our creaking bodies are well on the way to healing - and the donations continue to come in! Thanks to you all! Keep talking about GBMSS and our target will get smashed!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE TEAM! We swam 100 miles in 28 hours for Teenage Cancer Trust...
While we were disappointed to miss out on a channel swim - the remnants of hurricane Nadine made things unsafe for the crossing attempt, however, the Marine Lake at Clevedon proved a great test of our endurance - we swam around the clock with one or more swimmers in the water at all times and between our team of 5, racked up 100 miles of swimming. The support from our team was outstanding, and the encouragement from onlookers, friends and family helped us through the tough spots, and there were plenty of those. We're now really close to our target of £10k for Teenage Cancer Trust, so please help us get over the line! Thanks!
*** Latest news - 20th Sept. Very disappointed to say we have had to cancel the Guernsey to Dartmouth swim. Bad weather forecast would make swimmer change-over an injury risk. Our commitment to Teenage Cancer Trust to swim 100 miles and to raise £10k has not changed! We shall be swimming at Clevedon Marine Lake from 09:15 Friday 21st - Here's how to find it - please come along and support us! ***
Welcome to the Great Big Monster Sea Swim! Never previously attempted, this is a massive relay swim between Guernsey (Channel Islands) and Dartmouth (South Devon), by five ordinary blokes all for a great charity. Teenage Cancer Trust. The swim this September, really is going to be a monster ... monstrous effort, monstrous distance and monster waves ... Don't even mention the super-tankers... But above all, monster good fun we hope. Behind it all is a really good cause - and a lot of deserving young people dealing with challenges that dwarf even the GBMSS. This is your chance to give them a helping hand ... go on make a donation! It's easy through the website or by text - GBMS 81 to 70070. No excuses - If Mark Foster thinks it's a great cause, then you should too!
So please dig deep and donate now... It's got to be easier than swimming.

Job well done! Our team of 5 swimmers and the amazing support crew set up camp by Clevedon Marine Lake on Friday. We started swimming at 10am, and with our relay rota, swam 100 miles round a fixed course by 2.45pm Saturday. Fantastic to have so much support at the event!
20th sept UPDATE. Bad weather forces cancellation of GBMSS crossing from Guernsey to Dartmouth. BUT 100 Mile team swim is still on! We're doing this at Clevedon Marine Lake near Bristol. We start at 09:15 Friday 21st - come and support us!
97 online donations so far!! Who is the 100th going to be?!
We have Sat Phones, EPIRBs, GPS trackers - enough technology to land the shuttle - let alone swim the channel. It's all looking mighty impressive on GBMSS right now.
HUGE thank you to all who came down to the Corner Bistro in Braunton for the charity breakfast ... You raised £441.05! A great boost to our total, we're now over 60% of the way to our £10k target.

Charity Registration No. 1062559
Every day in the UK, six teenagers are diagnosed with cancer. At Teenage Cancer Trust, we understand that cancer doesn’t stop these teenagers being teenagers. We know that young people have a much better chance if they are treated by teenage cancers experts, in an environment tailored to their needs. So we have created specialist units that aren’t like ordinary cancer wards. Everything about them has been designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. And we want every young person with cancer in this country to have that chance.
