Guildford Cathedral was designed by Sir Edward Maufe in 1936 and was consecrated in 1961. Its light tranquil interior not only provides a place of worship but also a venue for concerts, school visits, art exhibitions and community events. After almost 60 years it needs extensive restoration.

Story

Well we did it! We began our walking pilgrimage from Guildford to Canterbury (110 miles) on Sunday 22 July and finished the following Saturday. Besides raising blisters we are raising funds for Guildford Cathedral.

The Cathedral provides a beautiful setting for the arts, music, education, and as a place of prayer and contemplation. Most importantly it is a quiet place of stillness where people of faith or none can find peace and spiritual renewal.

The only funds the cathedral receives are from charitable contributions and what it raises under its own steam. Whoever you are, please find it in your heart to support this place of peace in a world that needs such places now more than ever. If you have problems donating on-line please contact Elizabeth or Vaughan.

Many thanks: Aruna, Elizabeth, Nigel, Penny & Vaughan.

We would like to thank Nicky Williams for offering to be our support person. Without Nicky's help some of us would have had to miss the pilgrimage and all would have had very sore backs.
