Thank you to everyone who sponsored us.

As I'm sure you were aware from the poster the Welsh 3000s is a tough challenge for experienced walkers so it was always going to be very difficult for the GE Fabbri group of 15 to reach all of the 13 peaks. We managed to complete 8 out of the 13 and that is still a massive acheivement.

On the Friday afternoon we needed to climb 3 peaks to enable us to finish the challenge. The first peak is by far the most difficult of all the peaks to climb with a very steep ascent and a long ridge traverse that cannot be rushed. Everyone did extremely well to reach this peak but it took far longer than expected and as the sun was setting we could not go on to the other two peaks. We made it back to the minibus after 9pm just before we needed torches.

Saturday morning started with a 3 mile walk and over 700 metres of vertical ascent and we managed to follow that with a further 3 peaks. Everyone showed great determination to keep walking despite the tough terrain and steep ascents. The morning walk took two and a half hours longer than expected and several people picked up injuries along the way.

In the afternoon it would have been impossible to complete the group of 5 peaks (without finishing several hours past sunset) so the remaining team able to continue walking decided to climb Snowdon and the other peak we missed in Friday afternoon. We set off at 1600 and as a group of 10 reached the summit of Snowdon at 1830 - to climb Snowdon in two and a half hours is impressive but to do so after a full morning of walking requires a lot of effort. We then climbed our final peak before the long descent following the Snowdon railway line to another 9pm finish.

In short a great achievement for a group of 15 to climb as many peaks as we did and I hope everyone who sponsored us is happy with our efforts.
