BUPA Great North Run 2006 · 1 October 2006 ·

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. We make it possible to live longer and better lives with myeloma. Through research and treatments, we find new ways to a cure. Together, we are the cure.

Story

This is Andy, Andy, Chris and Nick's team sponsorship page for their 2006 Great North Run effort for the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF).  Please sponsor us generously, IMF is only a small charity and really needs all the help you can give.  It's a great cause.

Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells which means they can grow uncontrollably leading to lots of problems with bones, bone marrow and kidney's amongst others. There isn't a cure but it affects about 4000 people in the UK.  Myeloma is complex, making it misunderstood, so the IMF's work in funding research, improving treatment and supporting patients is critical. For more information visit http://www.myeloma.org.uk.

Unfortunately, Nick's mum, Liz, developed Myeloma at the end of 2003, shortly after having completed more than 40 years of dedication to others as a nurse. In 2000 her contribution was even recognised with an MBE.
