About Me and the Group
The group is made up with seven men team; currently serving with the Queen's Gurkha Engineers and 36 Engineer Regiment (Search) based in Maidstone, Kent, South East of England. The team is made up with a High Assurance Search Team who has just been returned to UK after completing a six and half month tour in Afghanistan. Despite a busiest and toughest period in theatre, the team managed to take part on various charity events outside their main job however had not had a chance to organize any charity events themselves. The team leader, WO2 Govinda Bahadur Rana came up with a plan to take part in the Three Peaks Challenge but in Gurkha ways (Doko Race). The Doko Race (Carrying 25kg of weight in a bamboo basket for approx 5km uphill track) is the hardest test during the Gurkha Selection process in Pokhara, Nepal . This charity event will support the Gurkha Welfare Trust who provides welfare to enable Gurkha ex-servicemen and their dependants to live out their lives with dignity, primarily in Gurkha villages in Nepal but increasingly in the UK and elsewhere.
This Event is taking place on Sat 21 Sep 13.
