Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As you may know in February 2010, I was diagnosed with Kidney cancer. With the help of Jon Cartledge and his medical staff at St James' Hospital, they were able to lead me to a successful recovery.
In light of this we are currently raising money towards the purchase of a specialist diagnostic ‘scope that will be greatly helped by your fund raising. We are completing the Yorkshire '3 Peaks' on Saturday 3rd September.
One of the difficulties we face at the moment is in finding very small tumours in the lining of the kidney.
In some patients we have results from Urine tests suggesting a tumour may be present in a kidney, but when we go looking for it at an investigative operation it cannot be seen. This can lead to a delayed diagnosis but certainly adds to the worry that a patient has to go through in not knowing whether they have a cancer or not.
One way to improve the chances of seeing an otherwise hidden tumour is by using specialist diagnostic ‘scopes. We would like to use the money you raise towards the purchase of one of these ‘scopes to help in the diagnosis of these difficult to find tumours.
So please dig deep and donate now.
