Story
One of the reasons for doing this walk is to help many dogs who need on going care even though they have been homed as well as the needy dogs in our care. Here is one story of a dog who came through GRWE and is now in a loving home but still needs on going care:
My main reason for organising the Ben Nevis walk is because I have an assisted homing dog, Sully. Sully came over from Ireland and was homed in England. Two months later he was found by the dog warden tied to the central reservation, almost bald with very sore pink skin. Sully came to me not long after to recovery. We all thought good food and a stress free life sully would recover. Sadly Sully has been an eye opener for myself and the vets who treat him. His immune system doesn't seem to work as normal. He has demodectic mange and sadly no matter what we do to boost his immune system we can't get it to work and keep the mange at bay. The mange wait their chance and devour Sully. You can see it in front of your own eyes, it is the scariest thing i have every seen. GRWE agreed to cover the cost for Sully's skin which sadly has been continues for the past 2.5 years. He gets constant infections and constantly needs Vet treatment. Any little skin tare leads to terrible infections. He has had a lot of other health problems, relating to his immune system, that I cover but GRWE have been covering the cost for his skin. Without them i don't know where Sully or I would be. So it is for dogs like Sully we are doing this walk. Sully is hoping to be well enough on the 1st of June to raise vital funds for dogs like himself and would like to thank everyone for their support.
