We are completing a Sponsored Walk at Delamere Forest (with lots of hounds of course!) on the 26th September 2010 to raise money for a charity called GRWE. We will be meeting at 11am at the Linmere Lodge Visitor Centre in Delamere Forest so please come along to support us. You will rarely see so many hounds gathered in one place at one time, all participating in the sponsored walk to raise some much needed funds for a great cause. The GRWE stand will be there for the day and of course lots of kennel hounds to fuss over who are looking for their forever homes!

GRWE (Greyhound Rescue West of England) is the leading greyhound rescue charity in England and Wales independent of the greyhound racing industry. They are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of abused and abandoned greyhounds and lurchers.

GRWE takes in greyhounds and lurchers from members of the public, veterinary surgeries, dog wardens and the police. They also help trainers and owners rehome their racing greyhounds and some dogs also come to us from general rescue centres. GRWE takes in greyhounds of all ages, some dogs are cruelty cases, physically and emotionally scarred and damaged. GRWE nurse them back to health and help them learn to trust humans again. Some are so scarred by their ordeal they need a long period of foster care before rehoming, others need very special permanent homes. Fortunately, greyhounds are by nature gentle, very resilient and will still be wagging their tails gently even when found in the most deplorable conditions and they truly make the most loving of pets.
