This year I am competing in the Great South Run, pushing ten miles in my wheelchair to raise money for Willow.
Willow has Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus with a Shunt, is registered Blind, has severe Reflux, Curvature of the spine and is globally delayed. She will always require specialist equipment and treatment not funded by the NHS....
Willow was born 10 weeks prematurely, she was effectively dead when she was born and required advanced resuscitation. She was put on life support and suffered a massive brain haemorrhage the following day. As a result Willow went on to develop fluid on the brain and had to undergo 9 operations on her brain, she remained in hospital for the first 7 months of her life.
Willow is now 4, she is a very happy little girl with a great sense of humour. She is unable to communicate a great deal and can not walk. As a result Willow requires a lot of expensive equipment and specialist treatments to allow her to reach her full potential as much independence as possible and to have the best quality of life. We are also raising money for Stem Cell Treatment to help improve and repair damaged cells and to better enhance her vision, mobility and general well being.
Thank you,
David Williamson
