CLIMATE FOR LIFE – What’s it all about?
The loss of forests around the world contributes more to global emissions each year than the transport sector. GTME will help to redress this balance by planting 500,000 trees and protecting many more from destruction.
So what’s happening?
Please help contribute to making London a better place with thousands more trees to enjoy for years to come.
By sponsoring us to take part in this 5km run you can help to -
- create more outdoor classrooms in schools around the capital so that children can learn about and enjoy their local environments. - Plant thousands more street trees at sites all over the capital for residents to enjoy. - Improve London's woodlands for people and wildlife alike. About the charity Trees for Cities is an independent charity working to improve the environment in urban areas by involving local people in community tree planting, training and landscaping projects. We manage projects across London, in Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, the Midlands and Reading as well as internationally in Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Ica, Peru. All our community greening projects are supported by extensive community consultation and involvement programmes that incorporate local residents, schools and community groups. As well as educating local people about our projects, in London we also run a series of horticulture, arboriculture and woodland management courses specialising in developing and up-skilling the long-term unemployed. So please dig deep and donate now.
