Dear Friends & Family,

Given my lack of communication skills most of you probably haven't a clue where I have been for the past year, where I am currently located, or what in the heck I have been doing with myself. Let me catch you up! I am currently based in the Philippines, working for the best NGO in the whole entire planet (but really). Our project is now in the City of Tacloban, where the largest typhoon to ever make landfall hit last November 8th. The typhoon was so devastating that it destroyed or severely damaged 1.1 million homes.  Huge progress has been made- the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure nears 50%, it is truly amazing how resilient the people of Tacloban have been. However, there is still SO MUCH to be done. 

We have already deconstructed over 342 damaged structures and built 146 transitional shelters that serve as temporary homes until these families find a permanent place to live.  Unfortunately it has been very difficult to find land to built these shelters on, which has lead to these shelters being built far from the city forcing families to relocate away from their jobs. We are seeking to rehouse those affected with the minimum amount of disruption to their lives: rebuilding their homes within their own communities in which they lived before the typhoon. If we can raise just one Philippine Peso (1 US Dollar = ~43 Pesos) for every house that was destroyed, we can build nine permanent homes while strengthening the community in which they are in! BUT we need your help, we do not have the funding to do this on our own. 

So, I am reaching out to YOU- begging YOU to please donate any amount of monies that YOU can afford. If YOU can just pass on that coffee tomorrow morning, or pick up that change off the floor of YOUR car and give it to us so that we can build these homes, it will make all of the difference! I can assure that your money will be in good hands and will 100% go directly to the construction of these permanent homes. This project means the world to me, and I would be one of the happiest girls on the planet to see 9 families move into a new permanent home that we were able to give them! Please!
