Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord. We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.

About me: I'm a keen amateur runner, parkrun mega-fan, and have always dreamed of running the London Marathon! After volunteering at the marathon start line in 2018 with my team from Walthamstow parkrun, I was lucky enough to win a place to the 2019 race, and have loved training so much that I have already signed up for my second marathon, Berlin! I'm never the fastest or the fittest one out there, but I never give up! This will be my biggest challenge to date, thankyou for your support!
