Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. We proudly offer safe homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25.

Story

COURAGE BOXING is a one off white-collar boxing event held to help raise funds for the Albert Kennedy Trust, while also raising awareness of National Coming Out Day.

Since 1989 AKT have been helping young homeless and vulnerable LGBT+ people. AKT are the national LGBTQ+ youth homelessness charity; focused on prevention and early action they provide: safe homes, mentoring, training, advocacy and support to young people who are homeless or living in a hostile environment after coming out to their parents, care givers and peers. Why AKT? because no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are. Find out more about AKT at https://www.akt.org.uk/

I will be taking part in an 8 week training programme starting on 21st August (training Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, whilst also rugby training and playing matches Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) to then compete in a 3x2 minute round amateur fight on 10th October.
