WSPA Borneo Jungle Trek 2011 · 3 November 2011

We end the needless suffering of animals. We influence decision makers to put animals on the global agenda. We help the world see how important animals are to all of us. We inspire people to change animals’ lives for the better. We move the world to protect animals.

Story

King of the Swingers

On the 3 November I am undertaking an 11-day trek through the Borneo Jungle to raise money for the island's orangutan sanctuary. I am paying the costs - £1,600 - myself so any money I raise will go straight to the charity.

The sanctauary is run by WSPA and the BOS foundation.  It is home to some 650 apes and aims to secure their safe return to the wild. You can find out more at www.wspa.org.uk (but don’t go before you have donated on this page!)

Over the next few months I’ll be trying to fundraise any which way but loose (change). Actually loose change is also welcome, as are any ideas!

Right, better get in training if I’m going to be a Jungle V.I.P.

Gareth

Quick fact: There are just 30,000 orangutans left in Borneo. Their homes are being destroyed by illegal logging and fires. Adults are hunted and killed as ‘pests’ and their young are sold into the pet trade.
