Earlier this year, we decided to walk the 80 miles of the Dales Way and thought that we would try to take the opportunity to raise much needed funds for a good cause at the same time. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance requires over £7,000 per day to operate it's two helicopters, and this is paid for in full by voluntary donations. The service has helped save thousands of lives since it's launch in 2000, and we'd like to help keep it going. More information about the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the work they carry out can be found on their website.

The walk itself is from Ilkley to Bowness on Windermere, and we will be covering the 80 miles over 5 days of walking, starting on 23rd September. Details of the route are shown on the Dales Way website.

We walked the Dales Way link from Harrogate to Ilkley on Saturday 1st Sept, so technically the walk will have been an extra 16 miles, taking the total up to 96.
