CAFT helps children aged 17 and under who through no fault of their own miss out on the normalities of childhood. A free day visit, residential stay or themed visit, provides these children with a much needed opportunity to have fun & laughter and to simply enjoy being children.

Story

JOHN O’GROATS TO LANDS END (JOGLE) CHARITY CYCLE RIDE – 26TH AUGUST 2010

As you may be aware, earlier this year, in a moment of madness, I declared my intention to complete a major adventure to mark my 45th year on this planet.  This was driven in part by the desire to raise some well needed funds for an extremely good local cause called “The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust” based at Millington, near Lymm, Cheshire.   The Trust provides free adventure breaks and activities to children who are disadvantaged by illness, disability and poverty.  Unlike the larger charities they rely TOTALLY on donations!!

Full details can be found at their website below, where a you tube video gives a very good indication of the quality of this cause.  www.childrensadventurefarm.org

Patrons to this charity include Sir Bobby Charlton, Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, Jason Manford and Farokh Engineer, to name but a few.

In terms of the event, two friends and I will commence our adventure on 26th August 2010.  The route that we are taking is close to 1,000 miles and we will attempt to undertake this over a ten day period.  We will be UNSUPPORTED and will be carrying all our own equipment.  Our only luxury will be “B&B” accommodation along the way.

The purpose is obviously to attempt to wedge a donation out of your pockets to give some help to those much less fortunate.   I fully appreciate how difficult the economic environment is now and is likely to be in the medium term, therefore, any donation would be gratefully received.  This charity cannot survive without donations.

I do hope that you can support me in this adventure.  You will of course get the added benefit of knowing that I will be going through considerable pain in the “nether regions” for eight hours a day, for ten days, on a saddle better suited to a child!

How can you put a price on that!
