ITS DONE!!
All 186 miles, 150 stiles and 300 gates successfully negotiated. Many thanks to my long-suffering wife who did all the driving and changing of plasters on my feet which are like ribbons now.!!!!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and Thank You to everyone who decides to contribute. :)
The Walk: The whole 180+ miles of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path in 10 days (with a weekend off in the middle!!). I've included a fuller itinerary at the bottom of the page.
And it starts next week on August 16th - HELP!!!!
Why: because i'm hitting the big 5 - 0 and it's something I've thought about doing for a while - maybe now or never!!
Why LATCH Wales: I'm raising money in memory of George Baker,a fantastic little boy from my school who died just over a year ago. LATCH Wales played a big role in supporting George and his family and it seemed appropriate to dedicate this walk to his memory since he was such a determined character who so enjoyed being outdoors.
Day 1: St Dogmaels to Newport 15.5 miles (with eldest son, Andrew) very sunny and hard work.
Day 2: Newport to Fishguard 13.7 miles (with youngest son, Matthew and his friend Shaun) overcast, cool, excellent walk
Day3: Fishguard to Abereiddi 22.6 miles another good day - long though
Day 4: Abereiddi to Solva 20.5 miles (with sister, Bethan and brother-in-law Nick) horizontal rain for the afternoon; absolutely soaked
Day 5: Solva to Martin's Haven 19.3 miles rain early on and hard going
Day 6: Martin's Haven to Sandy haven 20.8 miles (with Greg Morgan) quite a good walk; nice pint at the end!
Day 7: Sandy Haven to Angle 23 miles (through the towns) very, very hard - 10 hours and came up short!
Day 8: Angle to Bosherston 15 miles extra distance from yesterday and rain ALL day - worst day of the lot!!!
Day 9: Bosherston to Lydstep 14.5 miles (with Phil Gough) good day for walking; lovely views and another good pint at the end
