Story
2017 has been one of those rollercoaster years for me.
From the highs of the birth of my son which has seen me embarking on a weight loss that has resulted I s loss of 57lbs and counting!
Now to the low and the reason why I’m running this years Cardiff half marathon.
2017 was the year that I lost an amazing friend. Someone who was always there for me when I needed a chat, whether it was over the phone, text or a nice cup of coffee and cake. Someone who inspired me to do this marathon purely on her achievements by doing the same a few years ago.
Losing Sue Barter so quickly to cancer was a huge blow to me,my girlfriend Lisa and everyone who knew her. The loss and pain Stu and Millie have and are going through is unimaginable to say the least.
From what Stu has told me,Velindre cancer Centre in Whitchurch looked after her so well in her final weeks, just like they did with my Grandma and my Uncle John as well as numerous close friends of the family over the years.
Now for myself ,running this marathon will be a task that I’d never thought I could or would do,let alone attempt. The drive and passion that I saw in Sue when she did her own race has engaged my 100% for the task ahead! To think that the last time I ran was in 1991 doing the 1500m in high school,It certainly will be a challenge!!!
I’m determined to succeed in this,I’ve got 8 months to train and hopefully raise lots of money for this amazing charity in memory of my amazing friend Sue.
Any donation however big or little will be greatly recieved and will help the Velindre cancer care in Whitchurch.
