Story
On Saturday 30th April I'll be joining 45 travel industry colleagues at the London West Tough Mudder, raising money for Just a Drop, a charity that targets the provision of fresh water for those that can't get it.
As we all get many sponsorship requests , all I'm asking is that you kindly sponsor me for £5.91. This is the price of 6x1 ltr San Pelligrino (sparkling) at Tesco. I am clearly linking your ability to easily access fresh water for relatively little cost with others inability to get a basic (and safe) water supply at any cost. In doing so, I'm shamelessly tugging on your heartstrings and overtly generous nature.
Of course, please feel free to round any donation that you are able to make up to £6, or any multiple thereof...
I am hoping to raise £500, which will make a significant contribution to the total target of £10k. This will pay for a bore hole in the village of Nsunka in Zambia. Nsunka is a remote and rural community which has no local health services and no access to safe water. Currently, people fetch their water from unprotected hand-dug wells or river-beds. Both sources are unsafe but they have no choice - this results in the proliferation of water-born diseases, particularly amongst the young. This project will provide a borehole and pump to provide a year round source of fresh water, as well as training and education to ensure that it remains a long term solution.
Thanks
Gary
