Story
Having been seriously ill during 2012 then again in 2013 I lost 25% of my body weight in just over a year. I was also diagnosed with diabetes in July 2013, and was told that regular daily exercise was essential for managing it. This gave me the incentive to take advantage of the weight loss so I started running for the first time in 30 years. I started running across the fields and trails where I live. I loved it. In November I entered and completed the Winter Wolf 10k Challenge as part of a small 5-person team and raised £550 for Oxfordshire Mind.
I got such a thrill out of both running and the willingness and generosity of others; friends and family to contribute and sponsor me that I need to keep going. There are 4 Wolf Run 10k Challenges in 2014. I plan to do all of them. Not only that but I intend to do a trail run a month in the rest of the year. I already know I will be doing some with friends and some I am doing solo (for now) and am relying on the spirit of the day to find others to run at the same pace with.

I still have to find suitable trail runs for July, August and December. At the moment I am slow, very slow. Whilst I am happy to complete 10k in 2 hours I hope this will improve through the year. However I am not racing. Just the achievement of crossing both the start and finish lines of each of them with a smile is the objective. If I can raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and Oxfordshire Mind then that would be fantastic too.
Each of these charities does so much to support those that need it, directly and indirectly. The care and assistance received by patients and families of patients from each is outstanding and so important.
