Well we're off again on another bike ride. Last year was from down Ireland from Derry to Cork via Belfast, Dublin and Kilkenny. Interesting ride with the wind against us all the way, badly worn roads and incessant rain. That was the situation pretty much the whole time. Still I had a great sense of achievement at the end and the knowledge it was all for a worthy cause. I think we raised over 100 thousand for Unicef that time.

This time we are going to be riding across Nothern France from St. Malo to Lille. A bit longer at 350 miles than before and quite hilly  (especially on the first day of 130miles).

So the training has begun in earnest.

A couple of months ago I did a few shorting rides of 30-40 miiles just to "knock the rust off" both me and my bike. Then I have to admit I fell away and then picked it up again with some longer rides including one to Henley-upon Thames on a very fine day. (photos attached)
