Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am setting up this page so you can follow my Trek up Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.

For those who don't know me, or just to remind you, I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis in 2008, some 15 years after having first symptoms. I am on a chemotherapy drug to control this disease.

I will be hiking for a total of seven days, reaching an altitude of 19,341 feet (5,895 mtrs). The highest height I've been on land is 8,400 feet, so climbing to this altitude will be quite a challenge.

There is an estimate One in Six people in the UK with some form of Arthritis, this figure is higher in Wales with an estimated One in Five people in Wales with some form of Arthritis. Arthritis Care is the biggest charity in the UK supporting and campaigning for those with Arthritis in the UK.

The type of arthritis I have affects a mere 0.3% of the population.
