Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

In aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care we are going to cycle 1575km, from Lands End to John O’Groats, the most southern to the most northern corner of the UK. The challenge takes place over 9 days, cycling on average a massive 110 miles a day. By taking part in this challenge, we will be helping Marie Curie to continue providing care and support to terminally ill people and their families, in their own homes, completely free of charge.

My life has definitely been touched by cancer as I expect most peoples have. My 52 year old mother was diagnosed with cancer at the end of 2010 and this is my main motivation for taking on this challenge. However with my sister suffering from leukemia for 10 years over our childhood and finally loosing her battle at the tender age of 12, and my grandfather also suffering with throat cancer I have rarely known of times without chemotherapy treatments, hospital visits, long agonizing waiting periods and of course nurses caring for my loved ones. I cant help my mum directly with her cancer or take away the pain but I can help raise awareness and money for those that will help make her time with cancer as comfortable as possible.

I have set a rather mammoth task of cycling the WHOLE of the UK in just 9 days, that’s just under 1000 miles on a push bike. What better way to complete this task than with the help of a good friend by my side. Gary 'Zino' Scott has agreed to ride with me and help raise money and awareness. We need to raise as much as possible and all I can ask is you give what you can, no amount of money can replace a lost loved one, but maybe we can prevent losing too many more.

Training for this will be one of the hardest tasks either of us has ever had to achieve, plus spending that much time with each other is an event in itself. We set out on the 28th of July and need to hit our target (hopefully exceed it) as soon as we can.

Pushing ourselves to the limit and not giving up is all we can do for those who dont have the choice to take the easy way out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please accept mine and Gary's gratitude for any donations made towards our target.
