In 2012 I intend to take on the mammoth challenge of running the London Virgin marathon for the Scleroderma society. I am quite sure lots of you would have never of heard of this charity let alone what it represents, but it is something that means much to me.

Almost 2 years to the month I lost my mum to Scleroderma seeing her slowly succumb to the illness which she had bravely and unselfishly battled for over 20 years. Scleroderma is an umbrella term for a number of conditions effecting the skin and or internal organs the most common being Raynaud's disease and Arthritis for which there is no cure.

Running for a charity that supports and researches into an illness that has effected me and my family, I hope will give me the inspiration and the will to put in the training throughout the long cold dark months that lie ahead of me, and I am sure seeing donations rise through my just giving page will give me enormous encouragement, I know money is tight but please donate whatever you can.

The Scleroderma society is only a small charity with limited funds so any money or awareness I can bring it would be much appreciated, as I said before few people would have heard of this condition but when it affects someone who is so close to you who ultimately looses there life to it then it really brings home the importance of research and funding, it is still unclear if the condition is hereditary and with a young family of my own I can quite clearly see research is needed.

For any of you who want to sponsor me per mile please do, but you can rest-a-shore I will only be running the 26.2 miles and not a step further!
