Story

On 21st June 2011, the Mens and Ladies Captains of Gatton Manor Golf Club, John Humphries and Rita Rice will lead two teams who will attempt to play 72 holes of golf (and no buggies allowed!)

Mens Team - John Humphries; Patrick Kiely; Mark Dawson; Barry Burchall
Ladies Team - Rita Rice, Kim Newman, Jeanne Coker, Margaret Brown

Starting at 4:30am, the 72 holes will mean the players covering at least 16 miles each and hitting in the region of 2600 shots between them (although both of these may well increase as accuracy wavers!)

This is all being done to raise money for a fantastic cause - the Childrens Heart Fund at The Evelina Children's Hospital at Guy's & St Thomas'. This has particular poignancy to the teams as Rita's grandaughter died during a heart operation there. The Heart Fund helps fund the massive costs of crucial equipment - for example an intensive care cot costs £25,000.

So please dig deep and donate now.

If you want to offer bonus donations as extra challenges or incentives for anything - birdies, extra holes completed beyond the 72, 2's, holes-in-one (unlikely...!!) then please add it in the notes with your donation and we will chase you after the event for the extra donation if we are able to meet any of these.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
