The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

What is the challenge?

I'm about to embark on my hardest physical challenge, this is the journey to the highest point on the planet as measured from the centre of the earth - the summit of Mount Chimborazo (20,548 feet). Along the way, I will be climbing 4 other volcanic peaks, one of them still active and last erupted in 2016 (Mount Cotopaxi)!!!

Why am I doing the challenge?

The money raised will be donated to the Prince's Trust whose purpose is to support young people from ages 11-30 who have struggled with their mental health, homelessness or have difficult circumstances.

My specific motivation is to raise the awareness of mental health. The emotional and physical fatigue experienced from mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD etc.. has a huge impact on peoples daily lives. Finding the motivation to wake up, study, find a job or socialise can be difficult. I'm extremely passionate about supporting people in this situation so they can get the help they need.

For me, the challenge of climbing 5 volcanoes at low oxygen represents a fraction of the difficulties faced by those suffering with mental health conditions.

Who is going?

A group of 23 of us from MoneySuperMarket Group will be travelling to Ecuador to climb some of the worlds highest volcanoes. We are collectively excited and nervous especially as acclimatising to a low oxygen environment and harsh weather conditions will be challenging!!(its going to be -20 degrees Celsius!!!)

I would be most grateful if you can donate whatever you can for this charity.
