“I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 8 and although it meant a lot of responsibility was thrown upon me and my family in order to keep control of the condition, I was always able to continue playing sports and living my life to the full. There are people about that don’t get the right support or encouragement and lose control, but they need to know that having diabetes is not the end and it cannot stop you from achieving your goals in life. This challenge can hopefully prove that to the extreme; I’m running Great Britain and diabetes isn’t going to beat me! With the run hopefully it can inspire people and I thank all that show support, but I’m just a mad-man running and what’s important and can make the difference is that the funds get raised! Thank you!” – Gavin Griffiths
