Sparkles is an amazing parent-run charity providing specialist speech therapy for children who have Down's Syndrome. Sparkles is a small charity currently supporting 18 young children in Aylesbury and High Wycombe (including a little girl that I personally know).

Supported by their parents, children work in small groups led by a speech and language therapist. Speech development is often the most delayed area in children with Down's Syndrome, so the weekly speech therapy provided by Sparkles is invaluable. Weekly progress is seen with the children's verbal and non-verbal communication as well as finding friends for them and support, both practical and emotional, for all families involved.

Word formation for these children is difficult. Low muscle tone frequently delays speech which in turn can create communication barriers. Sparkles provides specialist speech and language therapy for young children when it matters; helping them to make themselves heard in the world, easing their path into childhood and ultimately school.
