Yorkshire Cancer Centre - China Trek 2010 · 24 September 2010 ·

Leeds Cancer Centre, part of the Leeds Cares family, diagnoses and treats cancer for the people of Leeds and the Yorkshire region. It is one of the largest cancer centres in the UK and provide some of the most up-to-date treatment, care and support for people with cancer.

Story

My story why do the Trek?

My story begins with the death of my mum who suddenly died of a cancer related illness. Three of her siblings have also died of cancer so this desease has affected my family in many ways .

When i found out about this challenge it really appealed to me because it is something that is close to my heart and i want to help cancer sufferers and their families who are trying to cope with this disease. I am paying for the travel expenses myself and i am currently in training for the long trek. People who know me are very surprised at the prospect of me travelling to China on my own not knowing anybody, but this is all part of the challenge. It is not only the physical side of things, but also about meeting new people who also have a reason for raising  the money to help this charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe . If you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed, so it’s the most efficient way to donate.

Yorkshire Cancer Research have launched a £10m Appeal to raise money for the centre based in Leeds next to St James hospital. The appeal will have a direct impact on patients who will use the centre , not just today, but for patients who will need these specialist services in the fight against cancer for many years to come.

The appeal will fund: * Specialist medical equipment

                                    * Patient 'home from home' comforts

                                    * Arts and gardens projects that provide a restful and positive environment

With our help, this specialist cancer centre can make a massive difference to so many peoples lives.

Any donation will be very much appreciated no matter how small.
