Story
With exactly 12 weeks of training before the London Marathon I got offered a last minute spot last week. With two hours to spare I submitted the forms and have commited myself to 12 weeks of blisters, early starts and a lot of time with my headphones.
I'm running for Rett UK and have set myself a fundraising target of £1000. Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder affecting mainly females. Although present at birth, it is usually undetected until major regression occurs at around one year of age.
If you would like to help me reach my target, raise awareness of Rett syndrome or simply want to take great pleasure in seeing me have to go home early on Friday nights (everything in moderation eh?) give away. I'm hoping to throw a few events to help raise the money too -hopefully i'll see you there.
In the meantime if you would like to help motivate my training I'm always looking for new music and plan on putting a collaborative playlist together for the big day.
Send your best running songs to gemmabardsleyatgmaildotcom or pop it in my spotify inbox. And if you happen to see someone running and trying not to dance around London over then next twelve weeks its probably me. Please be nice :)
You can also watch my Marathon live! Beats Per Mile will show you my location around the course, reporting my pace, speed and distance live as I go.
This site will track my GPS position through my iPhone in real-time, as well as pull in tweets, pictures and stream my iPod playlist.
