We research early diagnosis and treatments to beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

At the end of May 2016, we are climbing 24 Lake District
peaks in 24 hours, in order to raise funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, in loving memory of our wonderful father, Philip Ingham.

These include the highest point in England, Scafell Pike and other well-known Lake District peaks including Helvellyn, Fairfield and
Bowfell.

Some 8,500 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year in the UK.  It has the worst survival rates of any cancer - 3% – a figure that has not improved in 40 years. Only 3% of people who are diagnosed with this form of cancer live longer than 5 years and only 1% of people live longer than 10 years.  Despite being the 5th most common cause of cancer death in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives less than 2% of the overall research funding.

Philip's children, Peter and Gemma, along with his son and
daughter-in law, Chris and Vicki, aim to raise £2000 to support the Research Fund and the work that the charity are doing to try and improve the survival rates for people who are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. Survival rates are low, so new research is vital. In the past, this cancer received little attention. With your help, we can change this so more people beat pancreatic cancer.
