NOW RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON - 25th April 2010
I had initially planned to run the Loch Ness Marathon, but due to an unlucky spat of illness and injury, I've reluctantly pulled out of the race. Fortunately my charity are very sympathetic and have secured a place for me on the London Marathon 2010 instead. As the training period has extended, I have now raised the target to £2000, which would be fantastic but absolutely achievable. And this is why I'm doing it....
Tragically and very suddenly, my close friend Alison Fraser, died of a brain haemorrhage in May of this year. In Alison's memory, I am now running for the Brain and Spine Foundation, who are conducting all important research into conditions of the nervous system. It's a sad fact that every year, around 8,000 people suffer from a brain haemorrhage in the UK. I would like to support the Brain and Spine Foundation in finding new methods of diagnosis and treatment. Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Ali will understand what a huge gap she has left in our lives. Words cannot express how much we loved her and how missed she is.
