Story

Thank you very much for visiting my just giving page.

I will be swimming 1 mile in Lake Windermere on Saturday 11th June 2016 for Alzheimer's Society. The charity is very close to mine and my family's heart, as my grandmother suffered from Alzheimer's and so many friends families are also affected by this progressive disease. Dementia affects over 850,000 people in the UK alone. One in six people over the age of 80 have dementia in the UK and there are over 40,000 people under the age of 65 with young onset dementia...scary figures!

My very good friends Jayne (Calamity) Glenn and Laura (Boo) Dowle roped me into taking part in this :-) and will be swimming with me. As some of you will know I enjoy swimming but open water swimming terrifies me! So please dig deep for this very worthy cause and the sight of me in a wetsuit, swim hat and goggles.....oh dear!

I hope my fundraising swim will go a small step to helping Alzheimer's Society continue in their work leading support and research for people with dementia, their families and carers.
