Dear All,
A massive MASSIVE thank you to all for your support over the past weeks. I am so touched that people who haven’t even met me donated so generously. When ever I have felt a little bit down in the dumps I logged on to my Just Giving site and re-read all your messages, they honestly bought tears to my eyes (in a great way!!!)
What started as hoping to raise a little bit of money for TB Alert has resulted in me being their biggest ever fundraiser!! To date we have raised £1600. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
Well I made it!! Dad Katie Tom Lucy and I crossed the finish line in under 3 hours (2 hours 59 minutes and 2 seconds to be precise) and I’m here to tell the tale!
The first 8 miles were fine, almost fun; we were all happily trotting along, however at mile 8 my knee decided to give up on me - not what I expected to happen. From then I relied on Dad to pull me, Tom to carry me (for 3 yards anyway) and Katie to distract me with her latest gossip!!
Dad was as ever, Mr Motivation, literally dragging Katie and I round the last 4 miles, recalling that if we had been left to our own devices we would have still been trying to finish now. He was also my biggest supporter especially when one (not so charming) DJ decided to shout to us “Oi TB1 and TB2 this is Run to the beat, not Walk to the beat”. I will leave his response to your imagination!
Apart from the stiff legs and a slightly dodgy knee I am doing well. Have managed to put on half a stone and I am no longer sweating profusely at night - for which I am sure Tom is eternally grateful! I also seem to have much more energy, however as Tom pointed out when I over do things I seem to regress to being a baby, only waking to feed!!
I have attached a couple of photos so you can see us all in action, and I hope to see you all very soon, the drinks will be on me!
Thank you all again so much.
All my love,
Gem xx
