Woodhall Sprint Triathlon · 17 June 2018
My partners nephew Dexter is 4 years old and was diagnosed with Leukaemia on the 20th January 2018. My heart broke for Josie and Andy and I couldn't even begin to imagine what they were going through and what the future held.
At the time of diagnosis, Andy was out of the country working away and Josie was on her own with 3 children, including our handsome Dex. CLIC supported them from the onset by giving them a house to stay in as Dexter was initially treated at a hospital away from home.
Dexter has just under 3 years of treatment to go and is doing incredibly well! CLIC will still be supporting him throughout this journey and because of this I felt I need to contribute in some way to show my love.
On Dexters birthday (17th June) where he will be 5 years old, I will be taking part in Woodhall Sprint Triathlon. This consists of a 400m swim, followed by a 25km cycle and finishing with a 5km run. For the record, I have NEVER endured anything like this before and despite training and obtaining injuries along the way, I have not completed these 3 disciplines at once! I am very much well past my days of being 'physically fit' having been in the Royal Air Force, and I'm still carrying a bit of Christmas baggage from 6 years ago so this will be challenging. Nevertheless, my excuses are not valid, I will be doing this for Dexter as he has the biggest challenge of all to face and he has strength and courage in abundance. 💙💚
Please dig deep and spare some cash to support this amazing charity.
Much love
Gemma 😘
