Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. The page will remain active until 30th September 2014.

I have entered my first ever Ironman, Ironman Wales, 14th September 2014. This event consists of an open water 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile cycle and a marathon to top it off. There is a 17 hour cut off so I have an interesting 10 months training ahead of me! I hope you'll all support me with words of encouragement, help with training and if you can spare any cash that would be great too as I have a minimum £1000 sponsorship requirement.

I will be 30 in September 2014 and am really looking forward to taking part in this event as a challenge for that year!

i am raising funds for Macmillan as I know they are a charity close to many peoples hearts and their work means so much! The nurses were amazing for my stepmum's sister and I know of so many others who have really appreciated their help when the time has come!

More information on the event;

Pembrokeshire is the host county for IRONMAN Wales and is rightly famous for its coastline, protected by the Pembrokeshire Coast National Parks authority and boasts more castles than any other county in the UK.

The race has quickly gained a reputation with challenging bike and run courses, but also for the enthusiasm of the local residents in hosting the event. The crowds have turned out huge numbers for the start of the race, on Tenby’s North Beach being one of the most iconic settings for an IRONMAN swim anywhere in the world. IRONMAN Wales has been called one of the hardest Ironman races in the world with a very hilly bike course.

The distances:

Swim: 2.4 mile in the sea. A wetsuit is compulsory for the swim

Bike: 112 mile bike course is two laps, one long lap and one shorter lap

Run: 26.2 mile the run course, four laps

The cut off times:

From the race start you will have the following times to complete each section of the course

Swim: 2 hours 20 minutes

Bike: 10 hours 30 minutes

Run: 17 hours

Athletes will have 10 minutes after the swim and bike cut offs to start the next discpline or they will be withdrawn from the event.
