Courage Boxing Match · 10 October 2019

Coming out, or being outed as LGBTQ+ can lead to young people being made homeless. This is the reality for 77% of the young people akt supports. We proudly offer safe homes and better futures for LGBTQ+ people aged 16-25.

Story

AKT is a national LGBTQIA+ youth homelessness charity that was established in 1989. 24% of homeless young people identify as LGBTQIA+ and 77% of those individuals believe that coming out to their parents was the main factor in them becoming homeless. The trust supports the queer community by providing safe homes, mentoring, training, advocacy and support to young people who are homeless or living in hostile environments after coming out to those around them, with the aim of creating better futures for LGBTQIA+ young people. AKT believes (and so do I) that no young person should have to choose between a safe home and being who they are. You can find out more here: https://www.akt.org.uk/

I will be training three times a week to prepare for the match taking place on 10 October 2019 at The Clapham Grand. If you would like to support me on the night, please let me know. Tickets start at £25.

Since 1989, AKT has helped and supported over 50,000 young LGBTQIA+ people. Please help this charity continue its important and much needed work by donating today. Thank you.
