Thanks for reading this. As some of you may know I was treated for prostate cancer last year. Cancer is a terrible disease which has affected me and a lot of my family and friends.
After my treatment I vowed to do something to help with the fight. It came to me after watching the recent Panarama tv programme featuring some of the groundbreaking work being done thanks to funding from Cancer Research. Up to then I've always had a negative view - 'It will get me at some time' but the programme changed that. We are so close to finding a cure.
So what could I do to help? -Raise money for Cancer Research. But how? Got it! Sport and Hockey in particular have been a big part of my life. It had to involve that. So I came up with the Sportathon - a 12hr hockey match, in celebration of the Club's 65th anniversary, involving all the members of Slazenger Hockey Club, all with sponsorship, hopefully, and the opportunity to raise much more money than I could do alone. Perfect!
However, I need to lead from the front. Hence my individusl target of £1000. Please donate and help. Every contribution will be very much appreciated.

As at the end of August I have nearly reached my target with nearly £600 to add to the Just Giving total from face to face donations on my sponsorship form. Just over £200 to go!
