BUPA Great North Run 2010 · 19 September 2010 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Hello everyone,

I'm sure you are all aware of my Brothers illness at this current time, if not i shall let you know.

On April 15th Gary, a 37 year old Staff Sgt in the Royal Engineers, suffered a stroke and was placed in the care of Addenbrookes hospital in Cambridge. Whilst he was there he suffered a further 2 strokes and he slipped into a coma and has been there ever since. Although there are some signs of a slight recovery he has suffered some brain damage and will never be the same person that we all know and love.

I am taking part in the Great North Run and the Dublin Marathon in aid of Stroke research in the hope that they can assist Gary in his recovery and rehabilitation from the illness.

Gary has now been moved to Harrogate District Hospital where he is still in the Intensive Care Ward and receiving 24 hour care from a team of dedicated nursing staff. All my fundraising efforts are now geared towards helping my brother Gary get better however long it takes.

Thank you for your donation no matter the amount, let's all keep hoping and those that pray, keep praying, for him.
