Story

Husband. Father. Policeman. Fat Bloke. Two time cancer survivor. And that's just me...

In 2012 a group of Police Officers are undertaking a series of stupid physical challenges in order to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. We are known as "ironcoppers."

The aim is compete in at least one endurance event a month throughout 2012.

It all starts "gently" with a series of 10k offroad events in freezing, wet, muddy conditions. Members of the team will then compete in Marathons, Duathlons, Triathlons throughout the year and the ultimate aim, Ironman Wales. There are also a few little other suprises to be added as well.

I have a personal reason for doing this. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Stage 2b Malignant Melanoma and given a 25% chance of dying within 5 years. Having thought that was that, in March 2009 I was diagnosed with intransit metastatic melanoma. This was 2 months before becoming a father. I know more than most what cancer can do to a family. Since being diagnosed I have undertaken various personal challenges, usually involving a bike and a large mountain. I can think of no better charity to support and so if you can help us reach our target please donate no matter how big or small - it will all make a difference.
