Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, whether you are returning a visit to see the update or for the first time. I have had my tattoo applied by Brian of "Idle Hands" in Arbroath, who very kindly donated his fee as sponsorship. The design of my tattoo is appropriate to my own auto-immune disease - Alopecia.

My wife suffers from PBC, which has many possible effects.  PBC can hit anyone without warning, though the vast majority are women, who can suffer severe fatigue, painful joints, iritis of the eye, severe itching and many other problems can be associated with PBC.

My target is set at a fairly modest sum, which to date has reached 33% of target, which would pay for the hosting of a self-help workshop or a proportion of the printing costs of The PBC Foundation's regular magazine "The Bear Facts".

Unlike liver cirrhosis caused through drug or alcohol abuse, where a liver transplant can be successful, a transplant due to PBC is not the be all and end all. This is because PBC is an auto-immune disease - just like my alopecia - no-one can determine what the trigger was, or how to turn it off, so even after a transplant it can and in many cases does return.
