George's Carney's Community Sky Dive
Fundraising for Carney's Community
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been working with disadvantaged young people for almost 14 years now and in the last few years I set up a small charity called Carney's Community. Our focus is to reduce offending and antisocial behaviour, whilst increasing opportunities and access to free sporting activities (such as boxing).
I was recently approached by a load of the participants I used to work with, who have said they would like to do a sponsored sky dive to "give something back". This sounded like a good idea, until I found out that they wanted me to do it as well! So I am asking for donations that will go towards paying for the skydive for our group, but that will also help us to continue offering the support that we do to all young people, with a focus on the most disadvantaged.
This year we have secured a new premises, which has already given paid employment to 4 of our participants. Your donations will help fund our boxing sessions and new activities for the most disadvantaged and at risk young people that we work with (see http://carneyscommunity.org/our-impact/case-studies/ for examples). It will also help fund some of the social enterprises that our participants are involved with. These include businesses/projects based in catering, cleaning, healthy eating, music, personal training and fitness. Those that benefit from this funding will be people that have come from a very tough background, but have fought their way out and are on the road to making real positive change.
