Story

Running the London Marathon has always been something I've wanted to do ever since I watched it on TV as a child. This probably makes me sound like a complete nutter but then again some people probably think I am a complete nutter anyway!

The reason for choosing Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is that my ambition is to become a sports journalist. Helen was one of the most famous sports journalists of her era and was also ground breaking as she became the first female presenter of BBC's Grandstand. She was a truly remarkable woman and also brilliant at her job.

I also have a lot of time for the charity as they have helped some friends and relatives through their cancer battles and having written a number of stories about them I know how hard they work. This is another way for me (and you) to give them some appreciation.

About the charity

The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity is dedicated to supporting people whose lives are touched by cancer. Our Cancer Support Centres offer people living with cancer and their families access to complementary therapies, counselling and workshops to aid relaxation and well-being.
