I am running the London Marathon (2012), with a good friend of mine, Sophie Macrae, who is also at Leeds University. We are running the marathon to raise money for the road safety charity BRAKE. BRAKE is a charity that exists for a simple reason because every 30 seconds someone, somewhere in the world, is killed in a road crash. Every hour 29 people are killed and hurt on our roads in the UK.

My father died aged 49 in February 2011 in a car accident and Sophie lost her eldest sister, Henrietta, aged just 20, in 2002. This charity supports crash victims and bereaved families. The charity means a lot to both Sophie and I and we would appreciate your support hugely through sponsoring us to run. I feel honoured to be doing this with Sophie, who's sister Henrietta always wanted to run the marathon. My father was a fantastic sportsman, and I know he would be very proud if he knew I was running in it.
